Where No One Walks Alone’ is a photo documentary that seeks to combat the pervasive menace of Sexual and Gender Based violence (SGBV), creating safe spaces especially for children and women and empowering survivors to find their voices.
Toyin Adedokun follow Lemmy’s perseverance in seeking Justice for Keren Happuch, a 14 year old student in Abuja who was raped, sodomized anally, bullied into silence and died of Sepsis shock from a condom left in her genitals in 2021. The school has successfully stonewalled and prevented all information from emerging. Three years after, the call for justice still lingers leaving her family in state of complete devastation which causes them to deeply doubt the validity of the justice system in Nigeria. This is a recalling of who we all collectively must be. It aims increase our consciousness, and motivate individuals and groups to pledge their support to creating a safer spaces for women and the most vulnerable. Whether through signing a petition, or joining awareness campaigns, everyone has a role to play to transfer our cities into a more secure and welcoming spaces. Collectively we must stand against any form of abuse and intimidation against women and girls, building a city that protects and uplifts all its citizens.
